Western Digital to expand in India market with Zenith Computers

Mumbai: Zenith Computers has selected Western Digital Corporation as a key supplier. The relationship provides Western Digital further penetration into India's fast-growing PC market, especially in the home and small office-home office (SOHO) market segments, in which Zenith is a leader.

According to the Manufacturers Association of Information Technology Indian Market Research Bureau, the Indian PC market in 2003-04 is expected to grow. Zenith is integrating Western Digital's award-winning WD Protégé, WD Caviar, and WD Caviar SE — with both Serial ATA and EIDE interfaces — hard drives into its mainstream and high-performance desktop PC systems.

Addressing increasingly demanding PC applications, Zenith chose Western Digital, a supplier to the world's largest PC manufacturers, based on the high performance and broad capacity range of its hard drive lines, as well as its nation wide service capabilities, according to Zenith.

Raj Saraf, chairman and managing director, Zenith Computers, said, "Western Digital, known globally as one of the leaders and pioneers in both technology and quality products, is a natural choice for us going forward. The partnership is based on the importance of high quality, reliable hard drives in every segment of our focused business. The SOHO and small-to-medium enterprise (SME) market segments demand low rejection rates, as well as Western Digital's recently expanded nationwide service infrastructure network."
