Wipro Tech, Blockade in strategic alliance

Blockade and Wipro are providing customers operating on an IBM OS/390 or z/OS enterprise server with an end-to-end authentication solution for the secure management of enterprise and portal identities. This solution integrates and leverages Wipros web-based identity and permission infrastructure product, WiproWebsecure, and the clients enterprise server infrastructure.

Blockades authentication module, OSconnect, provides integration between WiproWebsecure and the IBM Enterprise Server security system for authentication, authorisation and auditing. OSconnect enables customers that have a large investment in IBM Enterprise Server technology to leverage their existing IT infrastructure while extending access to web-based applications. With the integrated solution, clients can now take advantage of centralised authentication and enforcement of universal policies and controls across all platforms.

The integrated solution enables customers to leverage their mainframe technology investment when deploying web-based applications with the WiproWebsecure single sign-on and entitlement management solution. This alliance, which also includes co-marketing, will extend Blockades reach and positioning in the enterprise security space. Blockades OSconnect will enable Wipros enterprise customers to deploy their web-based applications while leveraging their enterprise server investment and their existing security engine, whether it is RACF, ACF2 or Top Secret.

Cost reduction is a major factor for many IT executives, when considering IT spending. OSconnect for WiproWebsecure will enable IT managers to reduce their total cost of ownership, says Blockade chief marketing and business development officer Rosa Caputo. It also enables customers to extend their centralised security policies for web-based access control. We are delighted to be offering customers this secure and cost-effective solution in partnership with Wipro, a leader in the extranet access management space.

We are sure this partnership will deliver a shared promise of value across the offerings of both partners, from a customer viewpoint, says Wipro Technologies vice-president (e-enabling solutions) Ramakanth Desai. This partnership will provide our customers an enhanced proposition through a unique combination of security solutions that are dedicated to lowering total cost of ownership to the end customer.

WiproWebsecure is one of the most comprehensive and cost-effective software products for application security and was featured in Gartners Extranet Access Management 2H01 Magic Quadrant - February 2002. We have added Wipro to the Magic Quadrant because its WebSecure product was adopted by several large enterprises, and it has the potential to be a solid product, the Gartner report said.
