Avaya-Tata Telecom launch SIP-enabled solutions

Mumbai: Avaya Inc. (NYSE:AV), Avaya Inc, along with Tata Telecom, has introduced new software, applications and phones that provide greater control over the growing number of devices people use to conduct business.

Avaya is a leading global provider of communications networks and services that build, design and manage communications networks for over a million businesses world-wide, including 90 percent of the Fortune 500 companies.

The company said its new converged communications solutions integrate internet applications, such as instant messaging, with voice and telephone features such as conferencing, voice-mail and "click-to-dial" capabilities..

With these launches, Avaya integrates session initiation protocol (SIP) — an industry standard that enables users to conduct multimedia communications sessions — into its portfolio of IP-based communications applications.
