IBM launches new mobile computing solutions for India

Mumbai: IBM India has announced the availability of a completely redesigned range of notebook computers, with industry-leading performance and new standards for battery life, portability, ergonomics and the most secure wireless access.

The new notebooks are the top of the line ThinkPad T40, the ultra portable ThinkPad X31 and new models of the ThinkPad R40. Select models also include Intel’s just launched Centrino mobile technology, providing wireless connectivity while helping to deliver high performance and extended battery life.

These notebooks offer select models with IBM ThinkVantage Technologies that improve security, provide choice and ease-of-use in wireless capabilities, and simplify PC ‘fleet management’ for IT organisations.

The technologies meet new requirements for flexibility, mobility and dynamic reconfiguration of global organisations moving toward an on-demand business model. They are tools designed to help people and companies adjust to rapidly changing business circumstances.

Says IBM India vice-president (personal computing division) Alok Ohrie: “At IBM, we create, develop and deploy new technologies with real-world customers’ requirements and needs in mind. We have extended our mobile computing leadership with these three new models that offer longer battery life and the industry’s easiest, most secure wireless access.

“These new notebooks can find and connect to available networks by itself, can recover data lost to viruses, and requires 50 per cent less IT support than other notebooks. In fact, an initial group of 620 customers using IBM''s ThinkVantage Technologies and Intel’s Centrino technologies could save more than $2 billion collectively if they deploy ThinkVantage Technologies throughout their enterprises.”
