Amitabh Ray named head IBM Global Services India Exports

Mumbai: IBM India has announced the appointment of Amitabh Ray as director, IBM Global Services India (IGSI) Exports, India’s leading multinational software services exporter. Ray replaces Dr Uday Shukla, who moves on as director, Asia Pacific global delivery, IBM Global Services.

Ray was the leader of the technology and offshore practice of erstwhile PwC Consulting in India, which has now been merged with IBM Corporation globally to form IBM Business Consulting Services (IBM BCS), the new consulting arm of IBM Corporation.

Says Ray: “IGSI Exports earned many laurels from Indian IT industry watchers in 2002. This year we are poised to again lead in the market by continuing to play a key role in IBM’s global delivery model that provides quality solutions to our customers across the world at affordable cost and minimal risk.”

Ray has varied experience in the areas of systems integration and implementation, apart from possessing a confirmed track-record for handling major hi-tech clients across the globe — including Hewlett Packard, Intel, 3COM, Motorola, Applied Materials Inc, Sony, Shell, TetraPak, British Airways, General Motors, Gillette, Nestle, Cadbury and Unilever. Ray is a member of the Technology Sub-Committee of Confederation of Indian Industry.

IGSI Exports draws on the proven expertise, methodologies, processes and solutions that IBM uses the world over and combines it with the resource and quality advantage that India has to offer to provide “best-of-breed” solutions and services to IBM customers and labs globally.

IGSI Exports quality focus is driven by ISO 9001:2000 guidelines. It also conforms to Level 5 of the SEI Capability Maturity Model (CMM) and has recently become one of the few organisations worldwide to be successfully assessed for People Capability Maturity Model, Level 5, Version 2.
