Hathway launches digital cable TV services

Hathway Cable & Datacom Private Limited which introduced its digital cable TV services in Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi has now launched it in Pune on 20th May. Hathway, a part of the Rajan Raheja group, has been the pioneer in the cable TV industry in India.

Digital cable TV services are hence offered to the customer through a remote controlled digital device, accompanied by a smart card.

Some of the key features of digital cable are:

  • Excellent picture quality and sound
  • Consistent Picture quality across all channels unlike in analog transmission where the higher frequency channels often give a snowy (grainy) picture due to excessive cable loss
  • The device has a capacity to receive more than 1,000 channels.
  • Interactive on screen ''electronic programme guide'' (EPG), which is one of the most advanced features of the digital device.

The EPG enables the following added features:

  • Programme guide of all channels for the next three to five days.on all channels
  • Synopsis of programmes can be read by the subscriber.
  • Programme reservations and reminders for future viewing.
  • Favourite channels: can be arranged according to personal order of preference.
  • Parental control that set passwords and block channels
  • Information banner allowing the viewer to see details of the current programme such as name, start and end time, duration, synopsis.
  • Selection by genre say movies, across all channels displayed on the TV screen.
