Hyundai Motor India registers highest sales in March 2008 since inception

Mumbai: India's second largest car maker and the largest passenger car exporter, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), today announced a record sales growth of 66 per cent for the month of March 2008.

The March sales volume is the company's highest since its inception, with a record growth of 66.4 per cent  compared to the February sales. The domestic sales rose by 52.3 per cent while the exports grew by 96.9 per cent over March, 2007.

The total sales  in March 2008 stood at 47,001 units, with the domestic sales accounting for 29,401 units and exports totaled 17,600 units. The cumulative sales for March, 2007 had been 28,239 units with the domestic sales at 19,300 units and exports 8,939 units. (Also see: Hyundai Motor India exports exceed half-million milestone)

The upward trend started in January, 2008 when HMI posted the highest ever cumulative sales of 37,700 units. For the quarter ending March 2008 the cumulative sales stand at 113,702 units with domestic sales at 68,302 and exports 45,400 units, which is a quarterly jump in cumulative sales of 42.2 per cent with domestic sales growing at 30.8 percent and exports 63.8 percent compared to the Q4 sales in 2007.

HMI sales in January to March, 2007 was 79,926 cumulative units with a split of domestic 52,219 units and exports 27,707 units.
