Ford launches new Ford Focus ST for the UK

Mumbai: The new 2008 Ford Focus ST hatchback will go on sale across the UK from 1 May, the company announced. Ford TeamRS, the dedicated performance vehicle division of Ford Motors engineered the new looks on the Focus ST, which offers more appeal with a bolder appearance and a host of other features compared to its predecessor.

The face lift of the 2008 Focus ST is part of the company's strategy to improve the Focus line-up, which introduced a range of revisions for the performance hatchback earlier this year. Interestingly though, while offering new technologies and features, the car's well-honed dynamics remain untouched.

The sporty looking car has a revised exterior that features newly designed headlight clusters, body panels and tail lights.

The 225 PS, 2.5-litre, turbocharged five-cylinder Duratec engine powers the car to a maximum speed of 150mph and can accelerate from 0-62mph under seven seconds. The high performance ability of thee Focus ST was on display, when it set a segment-leading record time of 8 minutes 35 seconds around the Nordschleife circuit at the famed Nürburgring.

The 2008 Focus ST  will be available in three variants - ST, ST2 and ST3 with three or five-door hatchback body styles. The car is priced from £18,250 to £20,850.

Standard features include a 18-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels, Recaro sports seats, a multi-function steering wheel, upgraded instrumentation, easy fuel cap less refueling system and a 'Ford Power' starter button.The ST-2 variant includes a Sony audio system, bi-xenon lights, LED rear lights and Quickclear heated windscreen while the salient feature of the ST-3 is an in-dash six CD player plus full leather trim.
