BSNL is attempting to attract corporate users with a new plan offering unlimited free phone calls between fixed and mobile networks together with internet access at a fixed rental.

The monthly rental for the corporate scheme is likely to be Rs 500 per user. BSNL will also offer international calls under the corporate scheme, which will be cheaper by at least 30 per cent.

Under this plan, corporate user will be able to make unlimited free calls between fixed phones and mobile phones besides internet usage without attracting roaming charges even while on the move within a nationwide virtual private network from BSNL.

All corporate users will also get free wi-fi access at hot spots like the Calcutta International Airport.

BSNL earlier had separate VPNs for fixed and mobile networks which has now been integrated to include data gateway for high-speed data service. Accordingly there will be no restrictions unlike earlier, where a free call in a VPN was restricted to either a fixed phone or  a mobile.

According to SK Chakravarty, chief general manager, BSNL Calcutta, the telecom operator will not be required to make any investment in introducing the unified VPN solution as there is a separate intelligent network for fixed and mobile services.
