Bajaj strikes gold with four wins at BBC Wheels Awards 2003

Its Boxer AT K-Tech won the under Rs 30,000 category award, the Pulsar 150 DTSi won the Rs 45,000 to Rs 55,000 category award and the Pulsar 180 DTSi won the Rs 55,000 to Rs 70,000 category award.

Besides, the biggest feather in Bajaj's cap has come from the Viewer's Choice Award — Best Two Wheeler 2003 for none other than Pulsar 180 DTSi with an overwhelming 32 per cent votes.

The BBC Wheels Awards 2003 is the most prestigious industry awards and is awaited with baited breath by one and all. There were five key parameters on which the bikes in six categories were judged:

  • Engine performance and fuel-efficiency
  • Looks, build and finish
  • Ride and handling, suspension and brakes
  • Value for money
  • Ownership experience

The fact that Bajaj models have won four awards across categories is manifestation of the company's efforts in creating an array of models across price points that are not only fuel efficient but have stylish looks and are value for money.

Says R L Ravichandran, vice-president (business development and marketing): "We are delighted to know that Bajaj Auto has won the Viewers Choice award as well as three of the six category awards. Our team at Bajaj Auto, especially the R&D department, is elated by the news. Our entire focus and effort is to deliver the best of performance to our customers and the BBC Wheels Awards 2003 are validation of our sincere effort. We thank BBC viewers who have overwhelming voted the Bajaj Pulsar 180 DTSi as their two-wheeler choice."

The Pulsar twins continue to enthral customers and audiences alike. Aided with DTSi the technology marvels are an aspiration for the discerning customer. DTSi technology, developed indigenously by Bajaj Auto, offers further enhanced performance and improved fuel efficiency over the highly successful Pulsar twins, which comfortably meet the established 2005 emission norms.
