Bajaj XCD 135 DTS-Si, first in a series of six to be launched this year

Two-wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto plans  to launch six new, larger engine bikes in 2009. The first off the block will be the all-new sports commuter motorcycle, the Bajaj XCD 135 DTS-Si, due to be launched on on 21 January 2009.

Though meant for regular use, this bike will is designed to be sporty both in its performance and styling.

The 135-cc XCD, priced at Rs 45,000 is the Bajaj response to Hero Honda`s best-selling Splendor / Passion range.

It also plans to launch two more new bikes in the value-segment (125-135 cc engine size) in April and July and three premium models (150 cc and above) later this year. The bikes will be produced from Bajaj`s Waluj and Pantnagar plants from February.

Aimed at the mid-market or value segment, the Bajaj XCD 135 DTS-Si will have many first-in-class features like a 135cc DTS-Si engine, a 5-speed gearbox, auto choke, gas-filled Nitrox shock absorbers,and  digital speedometer.

It also features an electric-start and front disc brake digital cockpit, nitrox rear, low-friction front suspension, twin pilot headlamps and LED tail lamps.
