Ashok Leyland's July 2006 sales up 22 per cent

Ashok Leyland, the second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India and the Hinduja group flagship, has reported a 29.5 percent sales increase in the quarter ended 31 July 2006.

It reported an increase in domestic sales of 29.5 per cent, to 4,970 vehicles in July 31 from 3,837 vehicles in July 2005.

Its total sales were up at 22 per cent to 5,231, up from 4,283 July 2005. Its cumulative sales were up 26.5 per cent y-o-y of which cumulative domestic sales at 20,766 vehicles reperesent an increase of 27.8 per cent, while exports at 1,505 vehicles were up 11 per cent.
