Fiat to introduce new versions of 500 to boost sales

Fait 500Turin: Italian carmaker Fiat plans to bring out two new versions of its successful compact car the Fait 500 to cater to the expanding auto market, the company stated.

The company wants to boost the sales of new 500, banking on the success and warm response; the car has received since its launch in July 2007. Also there has been a strong demand for the 500 in the auto market, which has prompted Fiat to manufacture more cars.

Since the re launch, Fiat has sold 182,000 units of the 500 and orders for the compact city car model have reached 204,000 to 205,000, according to the company.

The car has been recognised for its innovative body design, which earned the Fiat 500 the EuroCarBody 2007 award, the most prestigious car body prize in the world. Along with being awarded 5 stars by EuroNCAP,the car also walked away with the 'Car of the Year 2008' award, beating 33 other cars in the competition.

Designed and engineered by the Fiat Style Centre, the new 500 is a small 3-door car is a hot selling car in the Europe in the compact segment.
