BMW India debuts the M3 coupé in Kolkata at new dealership

Kolkata: BMW India today showcased the BMW M3 coupé for the first time in the 'City of Joy' at the opening of its new dealership in the city, OSL Prestige.

The BMW, M3 coupe is a two-door luxury car, which is powered by a 3999cc V8 petrol engine and priced from Rs75 lakh to upwards of Rs1 crore. The company expects the new coupe's ''top-notch performance and pure luxury combined with perfect handling'' to justify its price tag The Kolkata new showroom where the coupe is being showcased is spread across 4,300 square feet and is developed on the signature-BMW concept of street display and the pavement flanking alongside as the customer area, which offers a unique retail environment to the customers. The entire sales operations are efficiently covered from the space, which ensures comfort to the customer at the point of sales. Video: Up close with the BMW M3

Peter Kronschnabl and Charchit Mishra in KolkataOSL prestige will be headed by its managing director Charchit Mishra. The dealership will house a showroom located on Eastern Metropolitan (EM) Bypass and a fully equipped workshop at Sarkarpool,  a 16,000 square feet premises that has six service bays, and can service 12 vehicles a day.

Speaking on the occasion, Peter Kronschnabl, president, BMW India, said, "Kolkata is clearly one of India's most historic and vibrant cities representing a great confluence between traditional values and modern society and hence is a important market for BMW. With our partnership with OSL Prestige we will be able to reach out to our customers in the right manner and consistently provide them with the best products and services from BMW India that are at par with international BMW standards."

For every BMW dealership, OSL Prestige has provided intense training in management of sales, service, spare parts and business systems to ensure its customers the best-in-class pre and post sales ownership experience, said Charchit Mishra. He said  of service engineers have trained at BMW  training centres in Singapore, Malaysia and Germany

BMW, which started its Indian operations in 2007 at Chennai sold 1,387 cars in the domestic market surpassing the estimated target of 1,000 in its debut year. The German luxury car maker aims to sell around 2000 cars in the country by the end of 2008 and has invested  $750,000 to increase the production capacity of its Chennai plant from 1700 units to 3000 units.
The Chennai plant, which produces the  3 and 5 Series caters to about 80 per cent of the domestic sales of the company.
