All stakeholders of the Rs2,500 crore Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL),including the ministry of civil aviation, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Karnataka government and the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) will meet on Tuesday, following a Karnataka High Court directive to resolve outstanding issues amicably.

The court has asked all stakeholders to re-visit and re-negotiate the concession agreement signed between the airport developer, BIAL, and the government.

According to earlier reports, civil aviation minister, Praful Patel, will chair the meeting that will look into various issues.

Two overriding issues that will be taken up at the meeting will include closure of the existing HAL airport and levy of user development fees (UDF) at the new Bangalore airport.

Under the provisions of the concession agreement, BIAL now proposes to charge an airport user fee of Rs675 on domestic travellers and Rs955 on international travellers. The UDF move has been questioned by user groups through a public interest litigation in the Karnataka High Court. Public interest groups have also questioned the move to shut down operations at the existing HAL airport.
