AAI short-lists applicants for modernisation bid of Amritsar,Udaipur airports

The Airports Authority of India (AAI), engaged in country-wide development of airports has decided to undertake commercial operation and maintenance of the terminal building and development of city side facilities, including cargo, of the Amritsar and Udaipur airports through a public private participation on a commercial operation, maintenance, development and transfer (COMDT) basis.

Towards this end it has decided to carry out a bidding process for selection of a preferred bidder. The pre-qualified applicants will be eligible for participation in the bid stage, for award of the project through an open competitive bidding process.

The AAI has now announced the names of pre-qualified applicants that have been shortlisted for commercial operation, maintenance and development of terminal buildings (COMDT) for city side facilities of the Amritsar and Udaipur airports. 

According to the AAI, the following companies have been short-listed as pre-qualified applicants for participation in the bid stage for the Amritsar airport:

  • Reliance Energy Limited-AAACPL-RADPL-ASA.
  • Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide.
  •  TADL-Changi Airports-Tata Power.
  • Lanco Infratech Ltd & Genting (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
  • L&T IDPL-Unique Consortium.

The short-listed pre-qualified applicants for participation in the bid stage for COMDT of Udaipur airport are:

  • Reliance Energy Limited –AAACPL-RADPL-ASA.
  • TADL-Changi Airports-Tata Power.
  • L&T IDPL-Unique Consortium.
  • Maytas Infra Ltd-NCCIHL-VIE Indieu & Beteiligungen Gmbh.
  • GMR Infrastructure Ltd

The AAI said the successful bidder shall act in accordance with the concession agreement it enters into between itself and the AAI. 

The scope of work may broadly include O&M of the terminal building including commercial use of the space therein; develop, manage and operate the cargo facilities and city side development.

The selected bidder would be entitled to levy and charge a pre-determined user fee from users of the terminal.  All other charges may be determined by the selected bidder. 

The bid documents for Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued by the AAI by mid-May, 2008.
