Fast track implementation for B'lore's high-speed train connection to international airport news
18 March 2008

Bangalore: The proposed high-speed train project to link the new international airport at Devanahalli with the city centre will be implemented under the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) model with private participation. Project consultant, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), has decided on the BOT model to avoid unnecessary delays in implementation of the project.

According to official sources, a decision to this effect was taken recently after a direction from Governor Rameshwar Thakur to the DMRC to "compress the implementation time" as much as possible.

With this decision, the proposed Special Purpose Vehicle for the high speed train will concentrate on project monitoring and management and will not involve itself with fund raising for the project.

The BOT operator, or project promoter, will be selected through a global tender. The intention is to start actual work in November 2008 and complete it by 2011.
