Bengaluru: Aero Sekur, specialist manufacturer of safety systems and advanced flexible structures, is exhibiting its products for the first time at Aero India 2009. It provides life rafts, flotation systems, flexible fuel tanks, parachutes, ground defence products, as well as repair and maintenance services.
A key feature of the Aero Sekur stand is a unique Non-Pyrotechnic Inflation System (NPIS) that features a unique valve technology using advanced materials. It is in current service on Agusta helicopters. The system can be used in new airframes or retrofitted to replace existing pyrotechnic installations.
Aero Sekur Chief Executive Officer Mark Butler said: ''The NPIS is an inherently safe non-explosive system and, as such, is a breakthrough for aerospace applications. The actuation advancement avoids dangerous goods, transportation and export restrictions which makes it highly commercially attractive. It is re-usable, as there is no degradation in performance, even after 100 operations. It can also be reset on the aircraft after actuation.''
Aero Sekur's innovative portfolio incorporates new materials with advanced design technology: the company predicts particular strong, and widespread, interest from the Asian market for its NPIS and flexible fuel tank products.
The company has a 150,000 square foot facility in Aprilia, South of Rome, Italy. It was formed in 1993 by the merger of Irvin Aerospace (founded in 1968) and the Sekur division of Pirelli. Its manufacturing plant includes autoclaves, CNC material cutting equipment, automated sewing machines, moulding presses, and all test facilities.
