No invitation for Pakistan
Bengaluru: China is participating for the first time in an Indian air show. However, New Delhi has sought to downplay this, saying too much need not be read into it. Defence Production Secretary Pradeep Kumar told the media here on Tuesday that for the first time, a seven-member delegation from China is at AeroIndia 2009.
He added, however, that one should not read too much into it. Countries take part in air shows for commercial considerations, he said, and hinted that there was nothing political about it.
Asked why Pakistan is not participating in AeroIndia 2009, Kumar said: ''We don't invite Pakistan.'' Asked why, he said: ''I don't have to answer that question.'' Then in a sharp retort he asked the media: ''What's your suggestion? (do we have to invite Pakistan or not?)''
