Mantis, an autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by BAE Systems, will make its featured debut at Aero India 2009, being held in Bangalore from 11 February.
A full size Mantis as well as a Herti (another UAV) will be displayed outside the BAE Systems pavilion.
The Mantis UAV advanced concept technology demonstrator programme, which brings together technologies, capabilities, and systems, will be demonstrated by the company at the event. BAE Systems is expected to have its largest ever presence at Aero India, an event it has attended every year since its inception.
BAE's their theme is 'Autonomy', in the sense of autonomous air vehicles. Inside its pavilion, BAE Systems will display products from across its aerospace product family, including the Typhoon and Hawk, as well as some products not displayed in India before, such as special seating for helicopters that protect aircrew from spinal injuries in crashes and hard landings.
