Indian companies that are facing competition with the likes of Amazon must be comfortable with this new finding: many professionals prefer working with them than with the American giant.
LinkedIn in its 2018 Top Companies ranking has ranked homegrown tech companies Directi, Flipkart and One97 Communications (the parent company of Paytm) as the top-three companies where Indians like to work. Amazon comes behind at number four.
LinkedIn has listed the most sought-after employers in the US, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India and the UK. It features diverse winners around the globe – from Amazon to LVMH, Qantas and Virgin.
The 10 in the India list include other multinationals as well as domestic firms such as Anheuser-Busch InBev, Mckinsey, Google's parent Alphabet, KPMG, EY and Oyo.
LinkedIn determined the top companies by looking at four factors — reach (how well-known they are); engagement (how much interaction their content receives), job interest (how much interest their jobs generate) and new hire staying power (how well they retain new hires).
The company observed how much of its more than 540 million members discovered and engaged with these companies, applied to jobs, and whether new hires stayed after joining.
“The list was developed by analysing billions of these actions and the final ranking is a blended score based on LinkedIn data and editorial expertise,” it said.
The number one countries in seven countries included Amazon (US), PwC (Australia), Itau Unibanco (Brazil), TD (Canada), LVMH (France), McKinsey (Germany) and ASOS.com (UK).
