Vizag steel plant gets new CMD
Visakhapatnam: Y. Siva Sagar Rao, Director (Commercial) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant), has been elevated as the Chairman and Managing Director of the company.

C. Appa Rao, Director (Personnel) and the Acting CMD, handed over charge to Siva Sagar Rao here, according to a press release issued by the plant.

A graduate in mechanical engineering from the JNTU College of Engineering, Kakinada, he served in the Bokaro steel plant for 12 years and joined the steel plant here in 1983. He was responsible for the commissioning of the raw material handling plant, calcining and refractory material plant and steel melt shop.

In 1992 he was awarded the Jawaharlal Nehru award for outstanding services rendered to the steel plant.

After being elevated as the Director (Commercial), he created niche markets for the steel plant products and encouraged value-added steel production for supply to original equipment manufacturers. He strengthened the communication systems among the branches.
