Mumbai:
Fortune magazine has named three Indians
ICICI Bank deputy managing director Chanda Kochhar, HSBC
India CEO Naina Lal Kidwai and Biocon head Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw
among the world''s 50 most powerful businesswomen.
The
global recognition for the country''s three businesswomen
comes close on the heels of
The
Fortune list, however, does not include the name
of Indra Nooyi, the India-born head of global soft drink
giant PepsiCo, who the magazine had earlier featured as
the most powerful businesswomen in the US.
Chanda
Kochhar, who is deputy managing director of the country''s
largest private sector bank, has been ranked 37 in the
Global Power 50 list published in Fortune''s October
16 issue. She has moved up ten positions from her 47th
rank in the previous year''s list. Kochhar, 44, was promoted
to her new position in ICICI Bank in April.
Naina
Lal Kidwai, CEO of HSBC India, has been ranked 41, while
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, chairman and managing director of
biotechnology major Biocon, has been ranked 48th in the
list.
Shaw
has moved down four positions from 44 in 2005, while Kidwai
has returned to this list after a gap of two years.
