Chennai: One of the India's communication satellites Insat 4A lost earth lock around 4pm on 2 January, 2007, disrupting services.

According to Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO) the problem occurred owing to some solar disturbances and one of the momentum wheels used for stabilising the spacecraft got switched off.

Immediately ISRO engineers at 'master control facility' at Hassan swung in to action, setting right the problem in thirty minutes, restoring services.
