IIT Madras, GLIM sign MoU for joint programmes
26 Apr 2006
Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) and The Great Lakes Institute of Management, a new management school, have signed an MoU to share their infrastructure and resources and host joint events to promote scholarly activity.
The MoU was signed on April 25, 2006, between IIT-M's Prof .S Narayanan, dean, academic research, and Prof Bala V Balachandran, founder and honorary dean, The Great Lakes Institute of Management.
This the first tie-up with a management institute for IIT-M. The strategic alliance between the two institutions is aimed at giving a new dimension to both management and engineering education since it benefits the students by riding on the natural synergy that exists between the two streams of education. While IIT-M has a new MBA programme, the Great Lakes Institute of Management has in the last two years caught the attention of management schools across India by getting guest lectures like Philip Kotler, Deepak Chopra, Sam Pitroda and some Nobel laureates.
Commenting of the MoU, Prof. Balachandran said, "This MOU allows students of both institutes to gain newer dimensions to their regular curriculum. This is another proud moment for all of us at Great Lakes. A tie-up with IIT is bound to open up a whole new world for our students."
