Lohiya is new GIC chief
Mumbai: Yogesh Lohiya has taken charge as the chairman
and managing director of General Insurance Corporation
of India, effective May 28, 2007 from RK Joshi, who retired
on April 30.
Lohiya
was earlier General Manager of The Oriental Insurance
Company Ltd, according to a press release. Lohiya is a
mechanical engineering graduate from the Punjab Engineering
College, Chandigarh, and joined the insurance industry
in 1977.

Bharti
reshuffles top deck; brings in new hands
Mumbai: Bharti Group is seeing some senior-level changes.
The officials exiting the company include Nilanjan Mukherjee
and Harshvendra Soin. Mukherjee is joining Reliance Communications
(RCOM) as the chief marketing officer (CMO). At Bharti
Mukherjee was looking after vital markets, where growth
is linked to affordability. Harshvendra Soin is joining
AV Birla group's retail operations. While his new designation
is not yet clear, he is likely to head the HR function
for the new retail arm of the Birlas.
The
group director (human resources) at Bharti Daljit Singh
is moving to Singapore.
Singh
joined Bharti in August 2005 and will complete a two-year
stint with the group on July 30 and will move back to
Singapore, where he was based.
Bharti
has roped in Krish Shankar of Hindustan Lever (HLL) as
director-HR at Bharti Airtel. He will look after the HR
functions of the company, which is hiring by the dozen
as it expands operations and manages a customer base of
over 40 million.
In
March this year, Bharti Enterprises had introduced its
new apex level organisational structure responsible for
evaluating new business opportunities, mergers and acquisitions,
and strategic alliances for the group.
The
group has four lead directors Bharti Enterprises
vice-chairman Rakesh Bharti Mittal; Bharti Enterprises
managing director Akhil Gupta; Bharti Enterprises managing
director Rajan Bharti Mittal; and Bharti Enterprises director
Badri Agarwal.
