Poonam Gupta appointed VP- business development of NMCE
Bangalore: The National Multi Commodity Exchange of India (NMCE), India's leading multi-commodity exchange has appointed Poonam Gupta as vice president, business development. In her new role, Gupta would be responsible for expanding the reach of online commodity trading and establishing NMCE's leadership position. Gupta led the NMCE delegation at the FIA Asia Conference on Commodities held in China besides being invited as a guest speaker at many conferences and seminars to speak on commodity futures trading. A visiting faculty at various management institutes, she guides students of IIM (A) with their summer internship programmes.

Announcing the appointment, Kailash Gupta, managing director, NMCE,said, "Over the past few years Gupta has been continually exposed to the various facets of commodity trading and she has contributed significantly to NMCE's growth since inception. I am sure this rich experience will stand her in good stead and will help in her new role."

Commenting on her new role, Gupta said, "With the online commodity market in India growing exponentially, it is exciting times to be playing this role at NMCE, a leading player in the space. Our strategy will be to increase awareness on online commodity trading and its advantages."

NMCE is India's first national multi-commodity exchange to fulfil the requisites of full automation, transparency, de-mutualised ownership, guaranteed clearing and settlement, and connectivity to all entities. NMCE has been promoted by central warehousing corporation (CWC) along with national agricultural co-operative marketing federation of India (NAFED), Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation (GAIC), National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM), Gujarat State Agricultural Marketing Board (GSAMB), Punjab National Bank (PNB) and Neptune Overseas Ltd (NOL).
