The Sensex closed at 5006.10 points, 129.08 points (or 2.65 per cent) higher at the end of the trading day. The S&P CNX Nifty gained 63.9 points (or 4.25 per cent) to close at 1567.85 points.

FIIs may buy 100 per cent in MphasiS
Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India has notified that FIIs can now purchase equity shares and convertible debentures of MphasiS BFL Ltd up to 100 per cent of its paid-up capital through primary market and stock exchanges in India. This is with the provision that the purchase of equity shares/convertible debentures by a single FII/SEBI approved sub-account of a registered FII in the above company shall not exceed 10 per cent of the paid-up equity capital of the company, said an RBI press release.
