One lakh crore wiped out
Mumbai: The BSE Sensex went down by 329.60 points (6.10 per cent) to close at 5069.87, while the NSE's S&P CNX Nifty went down by 135.1 points (7.87 per cent) at 1582.40. This is NSEs sharpest fall since its inception. According to brokers over Rs 1,00,000 crore of market capitalisation was wiped out today, which may be the highest ever in a single day.

PSU and banking stocks dumped
Mumbai: FIIS are said to have been net sellers of around $250 million-$300 million (around Rs 1,100 crore-Rs 1,300 crore) of equity. This is almost double Thursday's figure of $137 million (Rs 604 crore). They were reported to have sold heavily in PSUs and banking stocks.
