Xilinx sets up India centre at CMC
Hyderabad: Xilinx Inc, the $1.3-billion semi-conductor designer and solutions provider for global chip consumers has announced plans to establish its first development centre in Asia, at CMC's R&D centre in Hyderabad. According to Xilinx, the Xilinx India Development Centre (XIDC) would be developed on a build, own and transfer model and enable the company to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The region and Japan had accounted for more than 35 per cent of the total revenues of Xilinx in the fiscal 2003. Sony, LG, Samsung are among a host of leading consumers for their services. While Xilinx would provide management support to the centre, CMC will establish and run the XIDC.

Amazon.com to host Kohinoor basmati
New Delhi: Satnam Overseas Ltd, which markets the `Kohinoor' brand of basmati rice and products, will sell its entire range of food products online, on the leading e-commerce site, Amazon.com. Amazon will add the product range to its web site, enabling customers to find product availability and price data, a Satnam press release said here. Under this tie-up, Satnam will service their clients from their office in New Jersey. Kohinoor products were already available for sale in the US through several independent web sites such as freshdirect.com and qualityspices.com.

Outsourcing companies seek India
New Delhi: Brian Keane, the chief executive of outsourcing company Keane Inc says nine out of ten requests for outsourcing now include some part of work being done in low cost locations such as India.

Keane Inc, which does both business process and application outsourcing, has more than 1,000 employees in India and has seen that employment figures grow at about 100 per cent a year.
