Verisign takes over
Network Solutions
Palo Alto: Global internet security company, Verisign, whose authentication is most
sought after by e-commerce sites, today announced the take over of Network Solutions in a
$21b all stock deal.
Network Solutions, until recently, held a monopoly on
the allotment of addresses to the various internet sites that populate the net today.
It is believed that the takeover - the most expensive in
the internet arena -- will enable small time entrepreneurs entering the e-commerce arena
get comprehensive service from one company - right from getting a name for their site to
security solutions that will cover their transactions.
