Minhas wins FE award
New Delhi: Economist B.S. Minhas has been selected for the Financial Express award for economics in 1999. The award is presented to distinguished economists for their contributions in the fields of research, teaching and policy formulation in economics.

The award will be presented to Dr Minhas during the annual conference of the Indian Economic Association in Amritsar on 27 December. It carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a citation.

Schweder is MD of Rafael Hotels, South Asia
Mumbai: Ingo R. Schweder has been appointed managing director, Rafael Hotels South Asia, a joint venture between the Rafael Group of Hoteliers, Monaco, and Indian Hotels and Health Resorts. It will develop, manage and market  luxury hotels in India and other South Asian countries.

Mr Schweder is a former vice-president, operations and marketing, of Indian Hotels and Health Resorts.

Ajeet Singh is Emerson Electric president
Mumbai: Ajeet K. Singh is the new president of Emerson Electric Asia-Pacific. He is also concurrently vice-president and corporate officer of Emerson Electric Company.

Mr Singh joned Copeland Corporation, a subsidiary of Emerson, in 1981. He has held several positions, including director of product planning, and president of Copeland's export business.

Jadhav is SICOM MD
Mumbai: A.K.D. Jadhav, IAS, is the new managing director of SICOM Ltd. He joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1970, and has held a number of finance-related positions under the government of Maharashtra. At one time, he was development commissioenr of SEEPZ and secretary (expenditure) of the finance department of the state government.

Lt Gen Samarth to head Moolchand Hosptal
New Delhi
: Lt Gen Suresh Narhar Samarth (Rtd) has been appoined cheif of medical services at the Moolchand Khairatiram Hospital. His responsibilities will include management of medical care at the hospital, managing relationships with physicians and honorary consutlants and evaluating growth and opportunity areas of specialisation.

Lt Gen Samarth was medical dierctor of Duncan Gleaneagles Hosptials. Before that, he was commandant of the Army Hospital in Delhi and retired from the Armed Forces Medical Services as commandant and dean of the post-graduate wing of the Armed Forces Medocal  College in Pune.
