Heda to head Microland unit
Bangalore: Sharad Heda has been appointed president of the global
networking services of Microland. The division will focus on corporate enterprises as well
as Internet and applications services providers.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has replaced the high-profile
managing director of the state's high-tech joint sector international airport at Kochi,
V.J.Kurien, with another bureaucrat, Babu Rajiv, who is at present chairman of the Cochin
Port Trust. The government is understood to be peeved at the the financial performance of
the joint venture, Cochin International Airport, which is faced with the prospect of
paying interest to the tune of Rs 11 crore against a revenue of Rs 3.98 crore. The company
has availed of loans of Rs 189 crore. The airport commenced commercial operations in June
1999.
Mr Kurien, an IAS officer, will now head another
infrastructure project in the state, the Kerala Roads & Bridges Corporation.

Samant is Mumbai Coop
Bank chairman
Mumbai: Raghuvir Samant, former chairman of the Mumbai District
Cooperative Housing Federation and editor of Housing Times, has been elected
chairman of the Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank, one of the largest cooperative
banks in the state. Nandkumar Katkar has been elected vice-chairman of the bank.
