Premji is CE of the year
Mumbai: Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro, has been selected as the chief
executive of the year by the Indian Institute of Materials Management. Mr Premji will
receive the award from Chandrababu Naidu, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, during
the national convention of the institute in Hyderabad from 25 to 27 November.

Mumbai: Luis Miranda is taking over as the treasurer of HDFC Bank. He
assumes charge of the post following the resignation of Shailendra Bhandari a few days
ago. Mr Miranda is at present head of the foreign exchange division of the treasury.
Before joining HDFC Bank, Mr Miranda was head of corporate
foreign exchange business at Hong Kong Bank

Naveen Jain is the new
billionaire
New York: Naveen Jain, a non-resident Indian, has become a
"billionaire". Mr Jain, who sold his Microsoft stock to start Infospace.com, is
valued at $1.92 billion. The Wall Street Journal featured him as a "recent
initial public offering zillionaire". Infospace.com supplies directories, horoscopes
and other services to Internet portals. He owns 55 per cent of the company.
