Viren J. Shah is Bengal governor
New Delhi: Viren J. Shah will be the new governor of West Bengal. Mr Shah, industrialist and chairman of Mukand, has been closely associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party. The indication of his appointment was given by Jyoti Basu, chief minister of West Bengal, after a meeting with the prime minister.

Rajeev Karwal joins Philips
Mumbai: Rajeev Karwal is the new vice-president (consumer electronics division) of Philips India. Mr Karwal has been vice-president (marketing and sales) of LG Electronics. With the induction of Mr Karwal, M.N. Singh, who has been acting as interim head of Philips India’s consumer electronics division, following the resignation of Ravi Pisharody in August, will go back to his earlier assignment in Singapore.

N. Ramesh joins Madison
Mumbai: N. Ramesh, creative director of Ambience D’Arcy, has joined Madison Creative as creative director and partner. He will hold a stake in the agency. The Mumbai-based Madison Communications has been bifurcated into Madison Creative and Madison Media. Mr Ramesh is expected to handle the agency’s plans for restructuring.

With this, Sam Balsara, managing director of Madison, who recently lost his global D’Arcy partnership to Ambience and his Cinthol account, seems to have settled scores.
