Gupta part-time chairman of Air India
Mumbai: Union civil aviation secretary Ravindra Gupta is the new
part-time chairman of Air India. He has taken charge on 15 November following the transfer
of P.V. Jayakrishnan to the newly set up department of information technology. .

Himadri Sen joins Lupin
Mumbai: Himadri Sen, former associate
vice-president (pharmaceutical research) of Ranbaxy Laboratories, is heading the novel
drug delivery system research unit of Lupin Laboratories. Mr Sen has been the senior-most
of a team of six Ranbaxy scientists that had invented a novel drug delivery system of
anti-infective ciprofloxacin in Ranbaxy Laboratories.
Mr Sen, who has joined Lupin Laboratories a few weeks ago,
will report directly to Desh Bandhu Gupta, chairman and managing director of the company.

5 IT professionals set up
networking venture
Bangalore: Five senior information technology professionals have come
together to set up a new venture, Bangalore Labs, to provide leading edge technology-based
networking services to global companies. The team is led by V. Natarajan, formerly
director (Saarc region), of Lucent Technologies. The other members of the group are T.G.
Ramesh, formerly country manager-Saarc, Nortel Networks, Shriram Ramdas, formerly business
development manager, FedEx, Joy Nandi, ex-business manager, internet/telecom division,
Saarc region, Nortel Networks and Umesh Malhotra, ex-business manager, Infosys
Technologies.
Barings India and other investment firms are likely to
invest in the start-up.

Swarnkar is HZL,
Vizag GM
Visakhapatnam: S.R. Swarnkar has taken over charge as general manager of
the Visakhapatnam unit of Hindustan Zinc. He was earlier general manager of the
companys Debari, Rajasthan unit.
Mr Swarnkar has been a part of the team that expanded the
Debari units capacity from 18,000 tonnes per annum to 49,000 tonnes per annum.
