Vikram Rao joins Birlas
Mumbai: Vikram Rao, president of Arvind
Mills, has joined the Birlas. He will head the fabric and
apparel division of the Indian Rayon and Industries of the
Aditya Vikram Birla group. Mr Rao started his career with
Madura Coats.

Joy Ghosh to head Symantec in India
Mumbai: Symantec Corporation, world leader
in utility software for business and personal computing,
has appointed Joy Ghosh as country manager for India.
The company is starting its own office in India.
Mr Ghosh will operate from Mumbai.
Mr Ghosh has over nine years' experience in the IT and
telecom sectors. He has a degree in electronics and power
engineering and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management,
Calcutta. His earlier stints were at Wipro Infotech and
as business manager at Comsat Max.

Rathi
steps down as Sudharshan Chemical MD
Pune: J.R. Rathi, managing director of
Sudarshan Chemical Industries, has stepped down. He has
paved the way for Pradeep Rathi and Kishor Rathi to take
over the post of managing director jointly.
The senior Mr Rathi will
continue to be executive chairman of the company.

ING
names Kist as chairman
Amsterdam: Dutch financial services group
ING said Ewald Kist will be its new chairman. Mr Kist
will replace Godfried van der Lugt in June 2000.
Mr Kist, a keen hockey player
and was a member of the Dutch national side in the 1968
Mexico Olympics. He has been a member of ING's executive
board since 1993.
The group also announced
the appointment of David Robins, now chief executive officer
of ING Barings, and Fred Hubbel, member of ING Financial
Service International's and ING Belgium's executive committees,
as members of its board. Michel Tilmant, at present a
director, will be promoted as vice-chairman in June 2000.
