Seshasayee is president of COAI
New Delhi: K.V. Seshasayee of Fascel has been elected as chairman of the Cellular Operators Association of India.

Under a new structure that provides for a vice-chairman, the association elected Vinay Rai to that post and appointed T.V. Ramachandran as the first director-general.

Firodias' plan for corporate governance
Pune: High-profile joint managing director of Kinetic Motor Company, and Kinetic Engineering Sulajja Firodia Motwani, is likely to step down as part of an exercise by the promoters of the Rs 1,500-crore Kinetic group, the Firodias, to dissociate ownership from management control and bring in corporate governance norms. The exercise also involves Arun Firodia to function as group chairman and oversee aspects like technological collaboration, while handing over day-to-day management to professionals.

The Business Standard in a report said, the family members of the group will concentrate on enhancing shareholder value by providing a vision to the group.

The Firodias are scouting for professionals to take over as managing directors of Kinetic Engineering and Kinetic Motor.

IFCI changes portfolios of EDs
New Delhi: The Industrial Finance Corporation of India has effected changes in the portfolios of its executive directors. B.M. Agarwal, who was in charge of vigilance, has been given the portfolio of deposits and A.C. Ahuja, in charge of deposits has been given vigilance. The third executive director, Tapan Ganguly, will continue to handle credit.

Management consultants Arthur Andersen have studied the structure and has suggested that the portfolios of the executive directors should be rotated after a gap of two to three years.

Keith Weston regional executive of Bata
Calcutta: Keith Weston, managing director of Bata India, has been appointed regional executive Asia, of Bata International. The company is in search of a person to succeed Mr Weston.

Mr Weston will operate from Calcutta and continue to be on the board of Bata India. Calcutta is expected to serve as the regional headquarters for the Asia region. The managing directors of Bata units in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will report to Mr Weston.
