Asit Mehra for Lintas Worldwide
Mumbai: Asit Mehra, international client director of Amirattis Puris Lintas, has been promoted to the post of global planning director of AP Lintas Worldwide to handle the advertising agency's $1.2 billion Unilever business. Mr Mehra will join the APL Worldwide headquarters by September-end 1999.

Mr Mehra will work with Malcolm Hunter as part of a two-member taskforce on the business. He will advise the ad agency on global ad strategies for key Unilever brands.

He will be the only Indian in AP Linta's current network of international managers reporting to Terry Rosenquist, multinational client director.

Ratan Tata is executive chairman of Tata Sons
Mumbai: Ratan Tata has taken over as the executive chairman of the group holding company Tata Sons with effect from April 1999. The appointment was ratified at the annual general meeting of the company held on 16 July.

Six non-executive directors -- Darbari Seth, N.A. Palkhivala, Homi J. Sethna, J.J. Bhabha, F.C. Kohli and S. R. Vakil, have stepped down from the board.

The company now has four executive directors, including the chairman. The executive directors are Ishaat Hussain, R. Gopalakrishnan and N.A. Soonawala.

Bhaskarudu on PESB
New Delhi: The government has appointed Maruti Udyog managing director R.S.S.L.N. Bhaskarudu as a member of the Public Enterprises Selection Board.

The appointment will be effective when Mr Bhaskarudu assumes office or when he completes 65 years of age, whichever is earlier.
