Helped by gains in oil stocks, indices are trying to stabilise after yesterday's fall. Other Asian markets are mostly weak in early trades, though the US markets opened higher yesterday Sensex opened at 13769 and saw a high of 13923. The index is trading higher by 36 points at 13908 at 11.10 AM. Nifty opened at 3990 and touched a high of 3998. The index is now trading higher by 7 points at 3996. Oil marketing stocks are continuing their rally today as well. HPCL has gained close to 4.5 per cent while BPCL is up nearly 3.5 per cent Reliance Industries is trading nearly 2 per cent higher while Gail India has added almost 3 per cent ICICI Bank has rallied in early trades and is trading well over 2 per cent higher Among tech stocks, Satyam and HCL Tech have gained well over a per cent each Ranbaxy is continuing the rally with gains of close to a per cent Among other major gainers, Siemens has added nearly 1.5 per cent while MTNL has added more than a per cent Metal stocks remain weak after yesterday's fall. Hindalco is the worst performer, down nearly 1.5 per cent. SAIL has also lost nearly 1.5 per cent while Nalco is down close to a per cent Maruti is the worst performer among index stocks, down well over 2 per cent Reliance Communications is weak in early trades and is down nearly 2 per cent ITC has lost another per cent after yesterday's fall Zee Tele has slipped nearly a per cent in early trades L&T remains weak and has lost another per cent. BHEL also has lost almost a per cent OBC is the other loser, down nearly a per cent Mid-caps and small caps continue to do well. The NSE mid-cap index is now trading with gains of nearly 0.65 per cent. BSE mid-cap index has also gained close to 0.65 per cent and the BSE small-cap index is trading with gains of over 1.15 per cent. Market breadth on the NSE is positive in early trades with more than 2 stocks advancing for every declining stock. Pyramid Saimira got listed on the exchanges today. Issued at Rs100, the stock opened at Rs106 on the NSE and saw a high of Rs154. The stock is currently trading at Rs146 Tanla Solutions is another new listing today. The stock opened at Rs377 on the NSE and is currently trading at Rs380 Nicco Corporation has gained 8.5 per cent after rallying 20 per cent yesterday. Mercator Lines is continuing the rally and has added another 8.5 per cent Swaraj Engines, Xpro India, Prakash Industries, Shringar Cinema and Super Spinning are among the major mid-cap gainers. Nissan Copper is locked in the 5 per cent down circuit for the third session Automotive Stampings, Nova Petro, Heritage Foods, Binani Industries and Jai Balaji Sponge are the major mid-cap losers. |
