Markets end strong; Oil & gas, IT, metal up 4-7 per cent

The Indian markets closed on a strong note. No sign of weakness was witnessed throughout the day. Both the Sensex and the Nifty closed above their respective psychologically crucial marks of 9,300 and 2,800.
All BSE sectoral indices ended positive. IT, oil & gas, realty, metal, auto and power stocks witness good buying interest. The BSE Midcap and Small Cap indices were both up over 1%.
The Sensex closed up 299.13 points or 3.30% at 9370.49. It has touched an intra day high of 9,412.97and an intra day low of 9,202.57.
The Nifty was up 90.35 points or 3.29% at 2835.30. It has touched an intra day high of 2853.25 and an intra day low of 2748.40.
About 1565 shares have advanced, 1223 shares declined, and 131 shares are unchanged.
At close, on the global front, most Asian indices ended in green while European markets were trading weak.
