It was yet another strong session for the markets, they picked up from where they had left yesterday. It opened strong and traded in the positive terrain during the day. The Sensex was above the 14,400 levels and the Nifty breached the 4250 mark. The markets outperformed its Asian peers.

The broader markets outperformed the frontline indices giving market a very healthy breadth. All the BSE sector indices closed in green and leading the uptrend were auto, banks, capital goods, cement and metal.

Garware Offshore was up over 4% on account of news on open offer by India Star Fund.

Sterlite Industries after its ADS listing yesterday surged over 7.6% on the Nifty and Tata Power was up 4.5%.

The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 7,420.44 up 63 points or 0.9%.
