Frontline Indian indexes tried to extend their gains from yesterday in morning trading. However, weak trend across other Asian markets affected the sentiment and the indexes decline in the afternoon. Sensex closed with losses of 37 points at 13929 and the Nifty lost 14 points to end at 4120. Nifty May futures closed at a premium of 7 points to the spot index.
Technology stocks resumed their down trend. Satyam lost 1.92 per cent and Wipro closed 1.65 per cent lower. Infosys declined 1.42 per cent
Suzlon Energy slumped 9.11 per cent following results announcement and was the worst performer among Nifty stocks
ONGC continued to lose ground and ended 1.85 per cent lower and Reliance Industries closed 1.34 per cent lower
M&M also remained under pressure and lost another 1.61 per cent
