Infosys, Wipro bag top export awards news

Mumbai: Infosys and Wipro have bagged top honours at the annual STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) and Karnataka State IT Exports Awards 2007-08.

Infosys Technologies Ltd and Infosys BPO Ltd also bagged the awards for the highest employing IT company and ITES/BPO company, respectively.

The awards for outstanding performance in the field of information technology were presented at the `BangaloreIT.biz' event last night.

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd and Satyam Computer Services Ltd received the Certificate of Excellence while IBM India and Accenture Services bagged the awards for top foreign equity IT companies.

Oracle India and Hewlett Packard Globalsoft Ltd won Certificate of Excellence for the next two leading foreign equity IT companies while, Infosys BPO Ltd and FirstSource Solutions Ltd bagged awards for top two ITES/BPO companies.

HTMT Global Solutions Ltd and Aditya Birla Minacs Worldwide Ltd won  the Certificate of Excellence for the next two leading ITES/BPO companies while Dell International Services and Fidelity Business Services India Pvt Ltd bagged awards for top two foreign equity ITES/BPO companies

Goldman Sachs Services Pvt Ltd and Global e-Business Operations Pvt Ltd won Certificate of Excellence for the next two leading ITES/BPO companies.

Karnataka  IT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, meanwhile, said the state government would shortly set up software technology parks and incubation centres with better connectivity and IT infrastructure in the district headquarter towns of Gulbarga, Belgaum and Shimoga.

''It is the government's vision to see that the cities of the state such as Mysore, Mangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, Gulbarga, Belgaum and Shimoga also become IT destinations,'' Naidu said at the STPI-Karnataka State IT Exports awards function.

The state government and Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) have already put in place the required IT infrastructure in Mysore, Mangalore and Hubli-Dharwad, he said.
