L&T Infotech acquires US electronic design firm GDA Technologiesnews

Larsen & Toubro's IT subsidiary, Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd (L&T Infotech), will acquire GDA Technologies, Inc, and all its design centres in the US and India and its three founders will join the L&T Infotech management team.

The three founders of the privately held electronic design firm are A G Karunakaran, president Ravi Thummarukudy, vice president and general Manager, IC solutions business unit and K Periyadan, vice president and general manager system and software business unit.

California-based GDA is one of the fastest growing companies in the Silicon Valley and has satellite design centres in Sacramento, Boston, Chennai, Kochi, and Bangalore. It has over 350 employees in the US and India at its development centres in North America and Asia catering to over 100 customers comprising OEMs and semiconductor companies around the world.

GDA has expertise in various semiconductor developments from front-end design to physical design for design for deep sub-micron process technologies. Its portfolio of embedded hardware and software development capabilities along with the IP licensing provide GDA customers with a complete solution.

Announcing the acquisition, A M Naik, chairman and managing director, L&T, and chairman L&T Infotech, said, "GDA's electronic design capabilities are a key building block in our roadmap towards creating end-to-end solution delivery capability for our global customer base. Such acquisitions are an integral part of our strategic plan to strengthen our presence in the IT consulting and services space."
