Chennai: LogicaCMG, an energy and utilities information and technology (IT) has decided to enter the Indian market. As a first step to this initiative, LogicaCMG is showcasing its solution, Prodis, at the SAP Summit in Mumbai from 14 June to 16 June, 2006. Prodis addresses the need for upstream natural gas businesses to integrate and standardise their IT systems.

The upstream solution Prodis, which is Powered by SAP NetWeaver, manages and accounts for the production of hydrocarbons from the reservoir, through production facilities, pipelines and terminals to the sales point.

The solution also helps the industry players to share information within and between their operating companies in order to improve efficiency and cut costs. The Prodis solution is currently deployed at over 30 offshore platforms, five gas terminals and three pipelines and manages over 70 percent of the UK and 33 percent of the Dutch gas storage capacity.

According to Kannan Ramaswamy, managing director, South Asia, "The fast-growing energy and utilities sector in India represents a huge opportunity for IT solutions. As market competition increases, companies need to employ integrated solutions to reduce operational and support costs while improving overall efficiency."

As part of LogicaCMG's commitment to its SAP practice, the company plans to add 200 SAP professionals to its SAP team in Bangalore by the end of 2006.
