Mumbai: Fortinet, the only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection, today announced that its FortiClient Host Security software has received the Virus Bulletin 100% award for its virus-detection capabilities.

The Virus Bulletin 100% Awards recognise products that have been tested by independent experts and proven to accurately detect 100 per cent of viruses known to be 'in the wild,' which constitutes real-world viruses. Fortinet says that it is the only network security vendor to date to receive a unique and in-demand set of security certifications - 'VB 100%' for its desktop software, NSS certification for its intrusion prevention system (IPS) technology and ICSA certification for four distinct security applications: antivirus, firewall, IDP and IPSec VPN.

Virus Bulletin staff tested various antivirus products for their detection rates, lack of false positives and speed of scanning on the Windows NT platform. Fortinet received the award for its FortiClient software, an internally-developed antivirus technology and expertise in protecting against viruses at both the client and network level - a key criteria for any size enterprise.

"We are proud to receive the highly-coveted accolade in the antivirus industry from one of the most respected antivirus testing organisations in the world," said Richard Hanke, vice president of product management at Fortinet. "This award is a testament to Fortinet's strength in the antivirus security market, the technical prowess of our FortiClient host antivirus technology and our ability to providing end-to-end real-time network security."
