Chennai: The city-based Kosmic Technology Solutions (International) P Ltd, has been appointed as a distributor for Databeacon Inc's data analysis software Smart Client 1.1.

The Smart Client comes in two versions — Smart Client Standard 1.1 and Smart Client Professional 1.1. The professional version, apart from having the features of standard one `instant on' deployment of reporting and data analysis from a Microsoft or Linux Web server to any personal computer with the .NET framework; three viewers designed to ensure 100 per cent adoption; Databeacon Reporter; Databeacon Player and Databeacon Insight also includes an Application Programme Interface that provides a scripting language for creating custom data profiles. It also enables custom portal development and tight integration with existing system interfaces.

According to Kosmic group's director-Finance, K Muthiah, "In India we will target the small and the medium-sized companies. Actually, the product itself is designed for that segment."

He cites analyst group AMI Partners report that states that there are approximately 46,000 Indian mid market companies with 100 and 999 employees. These companies spent $2.91 billion on information technology in 2004.

For Kosmic Technology this venture is a sort of diversification as it is involved in software development in the areas of enterprise applications, embedded systems and integrated business solutions. The company is a strong player in the embedded systems for automotive players.

According to Muthiah, the company will be increasing the headcount by 90 to 200.
