Chandigarh: US-based software company, Quark, setting up a high-tech business and technology workplace at Mohali, near Chandigarh, has said outsourcing is "good" for America and the world.

Quark chairman Fred Ebrahimi yesterday described the anti-outsourcing movement in the US as 'stupid.' He said the outcome of the US presidential elections in November would also have a bearing on the outsourcing controversy. "The Republicans are generally not against outsourcing but the Democrats are. If the Democrats come to power, it would affect jobs in India and elsewhere," Ebrahimi said.

He said it would be "unrealistic" for Americans to be selling aeroplanes to India and not accept outsourcing of jobs.

Ebrahimi was at the Quark City complex at Mohali town, being built as a hi-tech business and technology workplace with modern amenities for private sector companies. The $500-million Quark venture in India was formally launched by Punjab chief minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh. This is Quark's second facility in India, with the first one being at Mohali.
