Serena Soft launches Indian operations news

Bangalore: Serena Software has announced the launch of its Indian operations. So far the company has been operating in the country through acquisition of Merant. Serena has has recognised India as an emerging market and hopes to expand its revenue to $40 million in two years. Though it has no plans to set up a development centre in India, it will provide services to its customers at their sites.

The company has also outlined the direction for its product and plans for expanding its Indian operations. David Parker, Serena's regional vice-president, Asia, said that with the combined strength of the two entities - Merant and Serena - the company would increase its global market share considerably to beat the current market leader, IBM Rational, by 30-35 per cent.

After merger, Serena expanded its market share to 22 per cent, Parker added.
